Growing in Containers: Excellent for containers, from single pots to larger mixed planters!

Fertilizing (Containers): Plant in a well drained, composty mix. Fertilize monthly over the summer with a general purpose organic plant food.

Watering (Containers): Water deeply when soil feels dry to the touch.

Growing in Mixed Planters: Excellent choice for colourful mixed planters. Contributes texture and vibrant colour.

Fertilizing (Garden): Plant in a well amended garden bed. No additional fertilizing required.

Watering (Garden): Water the first two weeks to establish. Mature plants require little watering.

Garden Companions: Looks great planted among low growing perennials, although more often grown in containers by zone 3 gardeners.

Suitability for Indoors: Only suited for indoors for the purposes of maintaining plants for the following spring.

Exposure: Full sun.

What about Grow Lights? Grow lights can be used to keep plants more active through winter.

General Indoor Care: Although 'Sparkler' is rated to zone 6, Ajuga is generally more of a cold climate plant than a warm climate one. This means that it prefers a winter rest period, and should be kept in the coolest location that is still sunny. Ideal location is a big patio door, bay window, foyer window etc. Plants are likely to display signs of dormancy, dying back and loosing leaves then perking up around March.

Indoor Container Suggestions: Any individual container with drainage holes.

Winter Fertilizing: Top dress pots with Sea Soil or worm castings in September and January. Resume regular fertilizing starting in March.

Winter Watering: Water approximately once per week (bu do not keep soggy)
