Pruning:
Little pruning is required. This variety will naturally develop a well branched habit. Occasional maintenance pruning will keep plants at their best.
Growing in Containers:
Well suited for smaller pots (4-6")
Fertilizing (Containers):
This variety thrives in a nutrient-poor, sandier soil. When potting up, add 15% quality compost to your mix. Sand and diatomite are healthy additions to the potting mix, adding grit, drainage and aeration. Top dress pots every three months with quality compost. No additional fertilizing is typically required.
Watering (Containers):
This variety prefers to be grown on the dry side. Water deeply when dry to the touch, but pay attention to avoid over-frequent waterings.
Growing in Mixed Planters:
Well suited for larger mixed planters.
Fertilizing (Garden):
This plant loves a poor soil. No additional fertilizing is required. The garden soil can be amended with quality compost every one to two years.
Watering (Garden):
This variety prefers dry soils. Water deeply approximately twice a week to establish new plants. Once roots have started to take in the garden, no further watering is required unless drought conditions occur, or plants appear water stressed.

General Indoor Care:
The easiest way to winter this variety indoors is to let it go dormant. See instructions for dormancy below.
Indoor Container Suggestions:
4-6" pot with drainage holes.
Winter Fertilizing:
Repot or refresh soil in fall, when bringing pots indoors. Add up to 25% quality compost. No additional fertilizing is required between October and January. As light levels go up, and new growth emerges, start fertilizing monthly, using a balanced organic plant food. If growing under lights, fertilize bi-weekly right through winter. Soluble (non-organic) fertilizers are not recommended, as these can cause burning or difficult-to-manage changes in the soil.
Winter Watering:
Water deeply when top inch of the soil feels dry to the touch. This variety tolerates long periods without watering - check on the soil at least once per month.
