Description: Early maturing with large seeds. Sweet, buttery, and high yielding, Midori Giant is one of the leading green vegetable soybeans available. Consistent heavy producer, yielding over 90% two and three-seeded pods with a clear pubescence. This is a sure winner for commercial production and home gardeners alike.This is a non-GMO, certified organic selection.

Germination Instructions: Germination: During germination the seeds can be extra sensitive to soil water levels therefor soaking seeds is NOT required. Soybean seeds are known to rot in waterlogged soils. To ensure that seeds sprout successfully, make sure that the soil has just enough moisture. Do not pre-soak seeds. Allow soils to thoroughly warm up to 25 C prior to planting. Edamame seed do not germinate in cool soils.
Planting Depth: 1 inch
Seed Spacing: 2"-3" apart within rows.
Row Spacing: 20"-36" apart. Soybeans require a lot of space for good yields.
Notes: Known as Edamame, a staple in Japanese cuisine, this unique soybeans is harvested at the green stage. They are lightly boiled in water and eaten as a snack or appetizer by popping the beans out of the pods. Easy to grow. Nutritional values: High in dietary fiber, protein, vitamins A and C and riboflavin!

Growing in Containers: Ideal for raised beds, but not smaller containers.

Growing in Mixed Planters: Not suited to mixed planters.

Fertilizing (Garden): Plant in a garden bed recently amended with quality compost. No additional fertilizing is required.

Watering (Garden): Water young plants regularly to establish, the water deeply as conditions require.

Garden Companions: All plants grow well with soybeans.

Special Requirements for Cold Climate Gardeners: To ensure continuous harvests, it is recommended that you plant seeds at different intervals throughout the season. Edamame is generally harvested at the peak of ripening when bean plant changes from bright green to yellowish color. Avoid picking pods that are blemished or yellowish in color. Pick beans every couple of days in order to keep a lot of beans coming. The more you pick and harvest pods, the more beans the plant will produce.
