Looking for a speaker? Dave Hanson, founder and lead educator at SGH, is a seasoned speaker and contributor to local and national media. In recent years he has been invited as a key note speaker to major gardening events, including international appearances in the US. Dave is the popular host of the CBC Weekend Morning Show's gardening call-in, and is frequently involved in t.v. and radio gardening projects. In 2011, Dave graduated with his M.Ed degree with a specialization in counselling psychology and interest in horticultural therapy, and is currently participating in the TAB business coaching program.
Since 1996, Dave has grown hundreds of herb varieties in Winnipeg, and is an expert on cold climate herb gardening. In recent years, Dave has become excited about vegetable growing in small spaces and putting to practice natural/organic gardening techniques that are not only good for the Earth, but also make gardening easier. He is continually energized by the indelible aroma of sensory plants, the challenge of "figuring plants out" and the amazing interaction between garden and gardener. This passion rubs off on his audiences!
Dave is available to provide a wide variety of professional workshop/consulting services, including:
-
Workplace professional development sessions
-
Conference workshop and keynote presentations
-
Specialized gardening workshops (sustainable gardening themes; herb gardening; urban vegetable gardening; gardening & wellness topics)
-
Television, print, web and broadcast media consulting on horticulture related themes
Dave is generally available October/November/December and January/February/March. However, Dave cannot book speaking opportunities during April, May or June, due to the constraints of the peak garden centre season. Please contact Dave by email (sage@herbs.mb.ca) 6-12 months in advance to discuss speaking at your group meeting, conference or event.
